VEDDAS performs an act unprecedented in Brazil on the International Day of Animal Rights
VEDDAS activists met last Friday, 10 December 2010 (International Day of Animal Rights) in the central region of São Paulo (next to the City Hall building) to call public attention on the issue of animal rights. While 12 activists held in his arms the carcasses of animals victimized by human exploitation, others chatted with the audience who stopped to watch the scene or videos that were shown by VEDDAS-CARTE right next to where the bodies of animals were being exposed.
Under intense sun and no breaks for activists who held the animal in his arms, the ATO lasted about 4 hours during which approximately 15.000 people visited the site. Estimates are that 8.000 of them have stopped to look and listen for a while we said the megaphone. Thousands of these people took our printed and hundreds of them talked with our activists. Many expressed surprise to come across the bodies of animals, declaring that they had never reflected on the theme. Some positioned themselves saying that never participate in the exploitation of animals as consumers.
Exposed animals were victimized by the fashion industry and food, as well as victims of religious rituals and other forms of animal exploitation. Speaking at megaphone pointed to the responsibility of every citizen on the fate of this animal, making it clear that to change the situation is to stop consuming not only the flesh of animals, emphasizing the issue of consumption of their eggs, mammary secretions and leather. The need to choose products that are not tested on animals was also pointed out repeatedly.
All cadavers were obtained from disposal industry or otherwise has not implicated in their deaths or has generated profits for their exploiters.

(although they are speaking as if they were longtime vegetarians, people interviewed were not vegetarian so far… it seems that the chips fell right there absorbing the images and the speech was presented)
