Activists protest in Los Angeles (California, USA) against New Forestry Code and the construction of the Belo Monte Dam

50 people gathered on Monday in front of the Brazilian Consulate em Los Angeles (California, USA) to protest against the new Forest Code and the construction of the Belo Monte Dam. The group mostly comprised of American citizens expressed their outrage over these two issues that severely threaten the environment with global impact and caused untold social damage to populations living in the affected regions.

The protest is part of the International Movement for Life in Brazil Forests, in Brazil has led thousands of people to the streets. According to George Guimarães, only Brazilian present at the protest in Los Angeles, this was only the beginning of a series of demonstrations being planned in various cities around the world.
