Made of 15 a 17 September 2011 Animal fur Instituto abolicionista (IAA), the I Brazilian Congress of Bioethics and Animal Rights had over 300 Subscribers who filled during the three day event the auditorium of the headquarters of the Order of Lawyers of Brazil Parana (OAB-PR).

Gathering in the same environment the main personalities of the legal work for animal rights (among them lawyers, state attorneys and prosecutors), academics and animal rights activists, the event was a great opportunity to exchange experiences and learning.

The VEDDAS had two appearances with the lecture “Philosophies Animailistas” that integrated the panel “Environmental Philosophy: Fundamental Currents of Animal Debate” attended by the president of VEDDAS, George Guimarães, and the director of legal VEDDAS, Renata Martins, Apart from mediating the panel “Activism and Animal Rights”.

The event was organized by lawyers Tagore Trajan and Danielle Rodrigues and featured dozens of brilliant lectures, having as closing ceremony of a just tribute to prosecutors Heron Santana, Laerte Levai e Luciano Santana.
