The World Conference on Bioethics and Animal Rights is a biennial event that takes place at the Federal University of Bahia. This year aimed to promote debate about the environmental future of the planet Earth. Issues such as climate change, stem cells, abortion, vivisection, environmental education, Veganism, animal rights and many other issues were discussed during the four-day event, bringing together speakers from various Brazilian states, along with teachers of the American continents, European and Australian.

The VEDDAS attended represented by its President George Guimaraes lectured and participated actively in the discussions at the event. The he was still assigned the task of mediating the videoconference with the philosopher Peter Singer. The same was done with the mediation philosopher Gary Francione their participation in editing 2008.

All travel expenses were funded with own resources of the President of VEDDAS, thereby not burdening the NGO.
