Protest in observing the International Day of Animal Rights
Every year, from 1998, the day 10 December is remembered worldwide as the International Day of Animal Rights (DIDA). In 2009, Hair 4th consecutive year, the VEDDAS organized a demonstration, this year calling public attention to the relationship of livestock to global warming. According to UN data, farmer sector is primarily responsible for the greenhouse effect in the world, generating 18% gases responsible for global warming. The transport sector, on the other hand, bears only 15% emissions.
The demonstration organized by VEDDAS that date is the largest of its kind held in the country, gathering over 300 people on the streets of São Paulo. Several media outlets reported the action of the last year, between Ls: R1 (Electronic Journal of Rede Record), Folha de Sao Paulo, G1, UOL and Terra. During the demonstration, seven thousand were distributed pamphlets on the subject.
