In the two days that followed the end of the event, George attended international protests held in Rio de Janeiro in partnership with the international NGO Divers for Sharks, that sought to bring public attention to the issue of the killing of sharks, a practice known as finning.al in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The VEDDAS attended represented by its President George Guimarães, who gave two lectures, entitled "To Be Best Activists" and "Activity Report VEDDAS: inspiring local activists ". George also participated in the discussions of the event, after which he was invited by the university to pass 5 days in Rio de Janeiro during the first half of 2011 to discuss their work with teachers, students and the interested public.

All travel expenses were funded with own resources of the President of VEDDAS, thereby not burdening the NGO.
